Week 1
The flight over was interminably long as always - 26 hours flying time + about 12 hours in airport lounges. This is the absolute worst part of overseas holidays for us. We arrived in Paris on May Day, a public holiday - OMG, the crowds of people everywhere. Nevertheless, this being our first visit to Paris we set about familiarising ourselves with the area where we were staying and then ventured further afield using the Metro. Our hotel was situated close ot Notre Dame so we were continually finding ourselves strolling around this beautiful building. We will be returning to Paris for 5 days at the end of holiday, but already I know we will barely scratch the surface of this wonderful city.

We travelled down to Tours in the Loire Valley by train and have had three days here. Tours is lovely (the old part at least) and the people are totally charming. The chateaux, well they are just amazing. For the garden lovers here's a photo of some of the gardens at Villandry.

And that's just the vegie patch.

Our next stop will be the little village of St Cirq Lapopie, near Toulouse, where we will be joining a small group for a week's walking in the Lot Valley.

Yay, finally finished work.

Tomorrow we leave for our holiday in France.

Won't be back until early June.

Internet access may be tricky at times but I will try to log in to keep up to date.

Be kind to each other and to the boyz, both B7 and DV.

I've made so many short notes this week I can only think in point form.

Must go and pack.

R and I went to see KD Lang last night at what is my favourite Sydney venue, the State Theatre. A 1920's totally over-the-top piece of history that has somehow managed to escape the developers.

Excellent concert, part of her worldwide Watershed Tour. Her voice is amazing, every word and every note so perfectly clear and her very talented backing group is just that - they do not play over her voice and support her beautifully, both instrumentally and vocally. She's chatty and generous with her audience as well. It was a real treat.

We took the office staff sailing on Tuesday for a Melbourne Cup Race Day outing.

Thomas must have been practising his weather conjuring because we had all seasons in the one day - sun, rain, wind, calm!

Had a great day despite the weather.

R and I took a drive down to some vineyards in Victoria over the weekend. Along the way we passed hectare upon hectare of this:

After a really frantic and crazy week at the office R and I spent a wonderful weekend staying with friends in the Hunter Valley.

I'm off tomorrow morning for a week's holiday in Queensland.

Mmmm... sleeping in; swimming; saunas; walks on the beach; eating out; reading; crossword puzzles etc etc...
