Marooned

Spouse and I flew off to Lord Howe Island, a tiny spit of land off the coast of New South Wales, for a short reunion visit. Flights are by small 36 seater Dash 8 planes and the runway on the island is very short. So much so that the airline weighs not only the checked luggage, but the passengers and their hand luggage as well. It's a wonderful, tranquil place; hardly any cars, everyone cycles around the island. There are is no mobile phone service, just a few pay phones scattered around the island, the internet does exists but is very slow, good for emails but not a lot else. We' d had a very relaxing few days cycling, walking, picnicking and snorkelling but by the time we we were due to fly out the wind had become too strong near the airport and all flights were cancelled. Alas, we had to spend a couple more days cycling and snorkelling. :)

Oh, so there are still places like a Paradise!!!!
WOW,and more WOW - this sounds like a great trip - and with that adventure...it is good to be marooned like that, isn´t it?
Of course I hope you had no big problems because of the prolonged stay...

I missed a dentist appointment, which was no great problem. I do feel sorry for the people who were to arrive the day we were supposed to leave. They lost two days of their holiday. The island is a protected area and tourist numbers are limited to 400 at any one time.
