DV Fic - A Question of Desire

A DV Fic, ever so slightly slashy.

The boyz still seem to be dealing with the aftermath of The Reckoning; now Francis is desirous of a few final words …..

“Now, I pray thee.”

Francis Drake looked down upon the gentleman who knelt before him, his eyes lingering on the pale white neck, so exposed, and so vulnerable, and was relieved that the man could not see his face, for those four softly spoken words had almost brought him utterly undone. His mind was in such turmoil; a tempest, worse than any storm he had ever endured at sea, raged in his head. Oh, how could he have thought to destroy this man?

The Captain was not of a passionate or sentimental nature, not used to sharing or intimacy, but in his own way he loved this man; had done so since first they met. It was not just that Doughtie was so fair of face and figure; there were alluring young gentlemen aplenty gathered about Lord Essex in Ireland, simpering for preferment. Doughtie was different, special – he had a generosity and an innate honesty that few young men of his station could boast. Drake recalled being almost overcome with pride when Doughtie’s impossibly dark eyes would beam with wonder and appreciation upon hearing of the Captain’s seafaring adventures. The normally stoic sea captain was almost giddy with anticipation when the gentleman had promised not only to promote his cause at court, but also to invest his own money in Drake’s grand venture. Could life be more perfect?

On the day of their departure from Plymouth, Doughtie had fair flown into the Captain’s arms on the deck of the Pelican, dancing him around with such exuberant gaiety that Drake thought he was about to be the recipient of a passionate kiss in full view of the whole ship’s company. The idea both thrilled and terrified him. But Doughtie had used his mouth instead to sermonize of God’s will and divine intention and Drake had felt, to his chagrin, a twinge of disappointment.   Was there ever a man so seductive as Thomas Doughtie?

But to Drake’s dismay the dream had fallen apart disastrously. Doughtie, despite his obvious affection for the Captain, was a proud man, a natural leader, but Drake was never one to share authority. This venture was his; he would suffer no alteration to his plans.  The conflict between the two men had been public and vociferous, culminating in blows, and an outraged Drake had demanded Doughtie pay for his indiscretions with his head. How could it all have gone so wrong?

There were few in the company who would dare question Drake’s judgment once delivered, but young Captain Wynter, God bless him always, had been Doughtie’s salvation. It was he who provided Drake with an acceptable, if somewhat unconventional, compromise. The ever faithful Vicarye had provided the words of the contract. Doughtie had promised to love honour and obey his Captain; Drake had vowed to love honour and protect his gentleman. How was it, Drake wondered, that this inexperienced young Captain Wynter, for whom he had held so little regard (save that the lad’s father and uncle were mariners of repute and influence), could have such insight into the hearts of men?

Now Drake was nervous, but he was patient, attentive. It seemed impossible to him that a man of such flirtatious and seductive manners could be yet untouched. Doughtie’s admission that he was a virgin fanned the Captain’s already inflamed passion. His fingers were blunt and rough, his hands hard and callused but he used them with as much gentleness as he could muster. Exploring. Teasing. He ran his fingers through the thick dark hair, caressed the lithe body from the broad white shoulders to the firm round buttocks. He wanted to make this the first of many nights of exquisite pleasure for them both.   But did Doughtie share his desire?

A desperate voice interrupted Drake’s tortured reverie.

“Please, Francis, I beg thee.”

Francis Drake smiled, leaned forward to kiss the pale white neck, and answered his lover’s plea with all the passion and power his strong, sturdy body possessed.

Oh yes, I'm sure he will be happy too; now that Thomas has acknowledged that all important four letter word: 'OBEY'. :P
